Zone Information for 2025
Date: Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November 2025
* There are no back up dates this season
Venue: Kerryn McCann Athletics Facility, Wollongong
Athletes in the age groups U7 through to U20 are eligible for this event. U7 athletes do not progress past the Zone Championships. The actual order of events for zone will be advised at a later date.

Further Details
- Zone Championships are open to all athletes registered with NSW Athletics (U7 & up)
- Events at Zone Championships are offered to those in the 7s-15s age groups
- 7’s - 11’s can selected up to 4 events to compete in while 12’s and up can select up to 6 events.
ZONE TO REGION PROGRESSION
Regions with four zones (such as ours) have three automatic places progress to regionals with the four next best qualifiers from each region also qualifying. Making a total of up to 16 athletes in each event at each region.
Progression Pathways
7s - 15s CHAMPIONSHIP PATHWAY
- 7s (Born 2019) Are eligible to compete at Zone Only held at Wollongong 29-30 November 2025 and do not progress further.
- 8s (Born 2018) Are eligible to compete at Zone and may progress to the Coles Regional Championships. Held in Wollongong February 7th & 8th 2026, if they place in the top 3 at zone or their times / distances are in the next top 4 for the region. 8’s do not progress past the Regional Championships.
- 9s, 10s, 11s & 12s (Born 2017-2014) Are eligible for the full pathway that includes the HART Sport Zone Championships, Coles Region Championships, and NSW Athletics State Track and Field Championships. Held in Sydney 21st & 22nd March 2026.
**The pathway for the 12s (Born 2014) also extends to the Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Championships.
- 13s, 14s & 15s (Born 2011 - 2013) Athletes in the 13s, 14s, 15s will have a full pathway that includes the HART Sport Zone Championships, Coles Region Championships, and NSW Junior Championships 12th - 15th March 2026.
** The pathway also extends to the Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Athletics Championships (& Australian Little Athletics Championships for the 13s only).
16s -U20s PATHWAY
- 16s, 17s & U20 (Born 2007 - 2010) Athletes may enter the NSW Junior Championships directly.
** The pathway also extends to the Chemist Warehouse Australian Junior Athletics Championships.

Uniform
It is essential that all athletes who will compete in zone wear the correct uniform and display their registration numbers, age patches and Coles patch as per the image below. Failure to do so will result in athletes not being able to compete on the day as per Zone rules.
